Plain English, always
The system's language gets translated, never used to impress. If a term matters, we explain it the first time we use it.
About
Compass Special Education Consulting exists for one reason: no family should face the special education process alone. We help parents and caregivers understand their options, find practical tools, and access personalized support — from the first IEP meeting to the years after graduation.
Founder
I started Compass so families don’t have to face the special education process alone.
I’ve spent more than 12 years in special education — as a teacher, in special education administration and coordination, in compliance, and advocating for families. I’ve sat on both sides of the table, in classrooms and in IEP meetings, and I know how the system works: how schools operate, how the special education process works, and what actually helps kids.
I started Compass because the paperwork shouldn’t feel like a maze, and the help shouldn’t end when the school day does. Families need guidance for school, tools for home, and support for what comes next — and that’s what Compass is built to provide.
My job is to translate the system’s language into plain English, help you understand your child’s rights, and stand beside you — we don’t lecture, pressure, or intimidate.
Every child learns differently — and every family deserves a clear path forward.
How we work
These four commitments shape every page, every tool, and every conversation.
The system's language gets translated, never used to impress. If a term matters, we explain it the first time we use it.
No pressure, no urgency, no drama. Just one clear step at a time — and a person who stays beside you as you take it.
We say what we know and what we don't. When a situation calls for another type of professional, we'll tell you plainly.
Educational information, parent support, and consulting — never legal representation, and never medical treatment, therapy, or diagnosis.
