A morning routine takes the thinking out of getting out the door. When the same steps happen in the same order, your child learns them faster and resists them less.
Build a short list
- Pick four to six steps: up, dressed, breakfast, teeth, shoes, out the door.
- Keep the order the same every day, weekends included.
- Put one picture per step on a board or wall where the morning happens.
Use it kindly
- Walk through the pictures together the night before and again in the morning.
- Let your child move a marker, check a box, or turn a card after each step.
- Start with the easiest step and add the harder ones once the rhythm is steady.
A rough routine that happens every day beats a perfect routine that happens once. The Toolkit Plus version builds the board around your family’s actual morning with your child’s own photos.
Versions include picture plus word, picture-only, word-based, a blank board to make your own, and a personalized Toolkit Plus version.
