A daily schedule shows the whole day in pictures, in order. When your child can see what is coming, transitions get easier and fewer decisions have to happen in the moment.

Build it in four steps

  • List the main parts of your day in order — wake up, breakfast, school, play, dinner, bath, bed.
  • Choose one picture per item. Photos of your child doing the activity work best.
  • Arrange them top to bottom or left to right on a poster, the fridge, or a wall.
  • Add a simple way to mark progress — a check, a sticker, or a clothespin that moves down the line.

Keep it useful

  • Review the schedule together each morning in under a minute.
  • When a plan changes, show it on the schedule instead of just announcing it.
  • Keep pictures simple and consistent so they are easy to recognize.

You do not need a perfect schedule. A rough daily order with a few pictures is enough to start — you can add more as it becomes part of your day.
